2011 Endangered Species Day Youth Art Contest Winners

The national Endangered Species Day Youth Art contest provides young people with an opportunity to learn about endangered species and express their knowledge and support through artwork. Started in 2006 by the United States Congress, Endangered Species Day recognizes the importance of endangered species, and is an occasion to educate the public on how to protect them. The art contest is an integral part of the sixth annual national Endangered Species Day, celebrated on May 20, 2011.

The winners were chosen by a prestigious panel of artists, photographers, scientists, and conservationists, including Jack Hanna, host of Jack Hanna’s Into the Wild; and Wyland, marine life artist and host of Animal Planet's Wyland’s Ocean World. To see all of the semi-finalists, including Campbell Francis of Santee, Joshua Kudar of El Cajon, and Kaori Joel and Shaleen Sathe, both of San Diego, please go to the Endangered Species Coalition 2011 Art Contest Semifinalist page.
