Cheetah Cub Cuteness at the Park
Four adorable cheetah cubs are keeping their mom busy and delighting visitors at the Safari Park. The almost-four-month-old cheetah cubs, two males and two females, are exploring their new habitat at the Safari Park’s Okavango Outpost. Under the watchful eye of their mother, Addison, the two boys (Wgasa and Refu) and two girls (Pumzika and Mahala) are romping around and chasing birds—and each other. Longtime Park fans may be a bit familiar with the cubs’ monikers: the spotted cuties were named in honor of former areas at the Park.
A Bat By Any Other Name…
The Safari Park’s young female Rodrigues fruit bat is no doubt head over heels for her new name, which was given to her via our online naming contest! After tallying more than 5,500 votes, “Batilda” came out head and shoulders (or, for a bat, feet and torso) above the rest. Although she was initially abandoned by her parents, our animal care team swooped in, giving her a second chance at life. Now the healthy and happy youngster has become quite the ambassador for this critically endangered species. Even though less than 4,000 Rodrigues fruit bats remain, we have hope for this species!

When In Drought—Save Every Drop!
"A drop in the bucket" can add up to a lot! San Diego County is in a Drought Alert condition with mandatory water-use restrictions, and San Diego Zoo Global is coordinating with the San Diego County Water Authority on a new regional campaign to help encourage residents and businesses to conserve this precious resource. The campaign, "When In Drought: Save every day, every way," also aims to thank those who are already taking action to conserve water. The campaign's website also offers ideas to help keep tabs on your tap—and other water-use habits to watch.
Three Ways to Enjoy Digital ZOONOOZ
San Diego Zoo Global’s magazine, ZOONOOZ, is now available in a digital format that can be accessed three ways. The November issue, featuring our 2015 calendar, highlights our conservation efforts and is available for download on an iPad through iTunes, and on the Kindle Fire. If you don’t have a tablet, you can visit the Zoo’s website and enjoy the issue through a version that can be viewed on a desktop computer, Apple or Android tablet, or smartphone.
