"Toucan" Play this Game

What's more exciting than the Zoo's first toco toucan hatching in more than 30 years? The Zoo's first two hatchings in more than 30 years! It was twice the celebration when a pair of toucan chicks fledged last week in the Zoo's Parker Aviary. Guests can see the feathered cuties as they flutter about with mom and explore their habitat.

Baby Boom at the Park

What's "gnu" to see at the Park? A bevy of new babies—from white-lipped gnu and eastern giant eland calves to Thomson's gazelle fawns and other youngsters—are kicking up their heels in the field exhibits. The pitter-patter of little feet also includes South African springbok and ellipsen waterbuck youngsters. Want to watch the kids? Take the Africa Tram and see how many little ones you can spot!

Summer Fun at the Zoo and Safari Park

Summer's here, and so are fun-filled celebrations at the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park! Through September 4, you can "rock and roar" at Nighttime Zoo presented by your San Diego County Toyota Dealers, as we celebrate Conrad Prebys Africa Rocks with live music, fun family activities, African-themed entertainment, surprise encounters, and a larger-than-life animal puppet procession. And don't miss "Happy Happens" at Albert's Restaurant, from 3 to 5 p.m. through September 4, which offers specialty cocktails, select wines or beers, and appetizers from the $6 and $7 menu.

Breakfast at Penguins at the Zoo

The special guests at this morning event on July 22 will be decked out in black and white, but you still don't need to wear a tux for Breakfast at Penguins! Visit the Zoo before it opens to enjoy a buffet breakfast while you watch our African penguins waddle, swim, and play. An exclusive view of our new Penguin Beach, and a special keeper talk and animal presentation are all part of Breakfast at Penguins, which begins at 7:45 a.m.

Spirits Dinner at the Safari Park

On Saturday, July 22 in Mombasa Pavilion, enjoy a fun visit with our animal ambassadors at 5:30 p.m., then join us for a delicious, four-course gourmet meal specially prepared by Chef Joshua Mireles to accompany selections from Malahat Spirits Co. A representative from Malahat Spirits Co. will be on hand to present the spirits with each course.

Cost is $84 per person, plus tax and parking. Nonmembers add Safari Park admission. Must be 21 years of age or older to attend.
