Discovery Tour
Let an experienced guide introduce you to the incredible animals and plants living at the San Diego Zoo during a Discovery Tour. Sit back in the comfort of our expedition cart for an enhanced version of our popular Guided Bus Tour. The Discovery Tour provides you with more opportunities to get great photographs for an experience to remember!
Your guide will share stories about the plants and animals in our living museum, how our conservation research work helps their wild relatives, and how little things we all do can make a big difference. The Discovery Tour route includes areas of the Zoo not seen from the regular bus tour. Best of all, you can step off for better views of your favorite critters and ask your guide as many questions as you like as you watch the antics of our animals.
The Discovery Tour is a 60-minute program that covers 70 percent of the Zoo. If you have a short amount of time to see all the Zoo has to offer, this is the experience for you!

Ape Adventure Discovery Tour
Wear some comfy walking shoes, because we begin this one-hour tour with a ramble along the walking trails in the Zoo’s Lost Forest. Your knowledgeable guide will lead you through meandering rain forest paths to meet strong, silent gorillas, playful siamangs, clever bonobos, and those loveable redheads, the orangutans. You will then hop aboard one of our expedition carts to tour other areas of the Zoo in style. Come join us for a swinging good time as we introduce you to our nearest relatives, the great apes, during this Discovery Tour option.
