Zoo Summer Camp: Cub Camp 2013

Youngsters will have a ton of fun during this half-day program. Each week includes animal encounters, games, and “snafts”—food crafts you can eat! Choose one or two weeks of fun for the younger set, ages 4 and 5. Cub Camp offers an Extended-day option: 7:30–9 a.m.

Zoo Work is Fun Play!:

Daily focus for Monday:
Wow! There are lots of jobs at the Zoo. Meet a camel and its keeper, learn about jobs on a bus tour, and make a puppet.

Daily focus for Tuesday:
Even the animals have jobs! Meet Zoo character Bamboo Bear, and visit a porcupine whose job is to connect people to wildlife!

Daily focus for Wednesday:
Chow time at the Zoo. Meet a parrot who can crack nuts with its beak, and go behind the scenes for a treat at one of the Zoo’s food stands.

Daily focus for Thursday:
Unusual jobs you can do at the Zoo. Help keeper Mike release his carrier pigeons, and visit the Camp store to get a prize.

Daily focus for Friday:
Now that’s entertainment! You’ll be entertained as you feed some lizards and enjoy a show with the famous Dr. Zoolittle.

Animals Play, Too!

Daily focus for Monday:
Animal play can be lots of work! Take a bus ride to see the animal plays, and meet a critter who likes to PLAY dead!

Daily focus for Tuesday:
Getting dirty when you play is not just for kids. Some animals do it, too! Meet the meerkats and watch them dig. Meet other animals that make dirt their homes

Daily focus for Wednesday:
Animals that play come in all sizes. Meet a baby animal that is very shy and an armadillo who has a built-in “ball” to play with.

Daily focus for Thursday:
Animals sometimes play with friends! Meet a sea lion that likes to play with his trainers, and make some marshmallow animals that can play together before you eat them.

Daily focus for Friday:
Animal play can be entertaining! Hyraxes have suction-cup toes so they can stick as they climb. Get ready to entertain yourself at the Camp Store and with the famous Dr. Zoolittle.
