WorldWild Tours: China
Posted at 1:14 pm April 12, 2006 by Amy ParrottThe San Diego Zoo's WorldWild Tours' " Panda Patrol" is off to China! One of our regular panda blog readers will be reporting in on our adventures periodically. Please find her first installment below.
Amy Parrott is the San Diego Zoo's WorldWild Tours escort.
'Ni hao' from the " Land of the Pandas!" We've been in China on the San Diego Zoo's Panda tour for five days, making many new friends, eating wonderful food, and getting to know each other while floating down the Yangtze River on a very " slow boat in China." As promised, I'll send reports back to the panda team blog so you can take part in the trip with us — including when we go to Wolong to play with the 2005 kindergarten cubs! Stay tuned! Cathy G.
Here's the itinerary of the WorldWild Tours' China trip.

How exciting to read about the Panda Tour. I checked out the itinerary for the trip and cannot even imagine how great a trip this will be! I am so envious but also delighted for the people fortunate enough to be on this awesome adventure. I have read Cathy G.(L.A.)'s blog entries in the past and know that her writing skills will help us all to enjoy the visit with her and the rest of the group. I hope she'll give our love to Hua Mei and the other pandas over there.

Let me do the translation , 'Ni" = you, 'Hao" = doing well / good , this is a common greeting in China, that is 'How do you do ? " in English. Thanks for Cathy G.

I am so very jealous of all of you on the trip. Please take lots of pictures and be sure to share all the pictures and news with us!

Can't wait to hear all about the Panda Tour to China, especially the trip to Wolong.
I think someone else mentioned this recently–Mei Xiang at NZ looks tired out and is panting a lot lately. Is it the heat/humidity? Spring fever? Generally, is it hard for pandas to adjust to warmer weather?

What a wonderful experience for everyone on that tour. I am looking forward to reading about the kindergarten visit. Hug a panda for me!

What a wonderful treat for all of us Panda fans! Thanks so much for allowing us to " share" in the adventure. I would be most eager to hear news of our precious Hua Mei and her offspring. I look forward to reading future blogs and wish you all well!

Thank you for the " virtual tour" entry - it's virtual for us, anyway. I hope you greatly enjoy every moment in good health. It's a great idea to send messages back to us about the trip, and I am sure I will enjoy reading them. And thank you for reminding me about saying " Ni hao." I had learned it at one time and then forgotten it.

I am so jealous. I really can't wait to read your updates.
Thanks for the translation, can we please have a phonetic pronunciation?

Cathy G - can't wait to read your report.

Here is the phonetic pronunciation for " Ni Hao" : it's " Nee How" . Actually if you say " Ni Hao Ma?" (pronounced as " Nee How Ma" ), it would be a question — asking how are you doing? Looking forward to the trip report!

I also can't wait to hear about the trip! Will you be posting pictures as well? I hope so! Happy travels!
