Education: San Diego Zoo Safari Park AP Biology Labs

High school biology teachers, allow your AP biology students or honors biology students to extend their classroom learning with our new AP biology labs. These programs will help prepare your students to pass their advanced placement test. Select from the two programs listed below.

Reservations are required; please call 760-738-5057. Program fee of $150 must be received no later than two weeks after the reservation has been made.

Pre-ordered lunches are available at the Park. Each lunch includes animal cookies, chips, a drink, and your choice of a hot dog, chicken strips, or cheese sandwich. Lunches can be ordered after you have made a reservation for your field trip and no later than two weeks prior to your visit date. For Park lunch reservations, please call 760-738-5055.

Animal Behavior Study

Do gorillas communicate with facial expressions? What happens when a lion roars? Are elephants altruistic? Your students will learn how biologists research animal behavior to answer these and other questions and practice date collection and analysis of these three species. Diversity of Organisms Study

What are porcupines related to? Are owls related to tortoises? Your students will learn how and why biologists classify organisms and determine evolutionary relationships. Students will classify various animals with the help of observation data, genetic data, and natural history records.
