The Artists’ Journey
Many artists find inspiration for their work in the Wild Animal Park’s animal and plant collections (just think of Disney’s The Lion King and Dreamworks’ Madagascar movies!). Make a connection to wildlife through your artwork with the help of a professional artist and art teacher during this unique program.
After receiving a gift bag filled with everything you’ll need for your adventure, you’ll board our special caravan truck for a ride to our outdoor classroom space. Here, your guide/teacher will give instruction on sketching and shading. Various biofacts will be on display as still life “models” for your sketching practice.
Hop back on board the truck to journey into one of the Park’s expansive field exhibits for a unique sketching experience, an activity all wildlife artists enjoy! Your teacher will focus on a few animals and show you how to implement what you learned in the classroom as well as sharing some new tips and techniques (sketching movement and a specific part of an animal’s anatomy), and will provide personal instruction and offer critiques when requested.
When your journey is complete, you’ll have a sketchbook full of wildlife memories!
