Kid Territory:Recipes: Panda Pita Pockets

This wouldn't be a complete animal recipe collection without including one of the most loved, yet endangered, animals in the world–the giant panda. All pandas left in the wild live in China, and the Chinese people are working very hard to protect them. This large black-and-white bear spends up to 16 hours a day eating. Bamboo is its main diet, though it is fond of honey, too. The panda has very thick fur and will clean itself by rolling in the dirt! Pandas also love to do somersaults. Click on our "Panda Cam" and see what our pandas are doing right now. Then you can put together some Panda Pita Pockets.

Ingredients

Pita pocket bread cut in halves (like half moons)
Cream cheese
Chocolate chips

Mix chocolate chips into some cream cheese and spread a batch inside one of the pita halves. Munch away! Now that you've created your "black-and-white" panda treat, what other color combinations can you think of? How about purple-and-white pandas (cream cheese and grape jelly) or red-and-white pandas (cream cheese and strawberry jam)? Your snack can be delicious no matter what color your panda is!
