Keynote Speaker Dr. Michael Fay will give a presentation on his Megatransect project in Africa. Joan Embery, conservation ambassador, will emcee this special celebration of local and international conservation.
6 p.m. — Reception with animal ambassadors
6:45 p.m. — Dinner, includes three courses and wine. Awards Program to follow, with introductions by Joan Embery.

Biodiversity in California

The San Diego Zoo presents this special event each year to highlight a significant topic about conservation, inviting speakers who are experts in their field to present their research, observations, and personal experiences in the effort to save endangered species.
This year’s theme is California’s biodiversity. Conservation Ambassador Joan Embery will emcee the event, and speakers will include Dr. Michael Fay, presenting his work on the Redwood Transect project, and Dr. Serge Dedina, sharing his involvement in WiLDCOAST. Other speakers will share their work with San Diego’s precious river systems, California condors, bighorn sheep, and Pacific pocket mice. See list of presenters and topics
The State of Endangered Species event will be held at the San Diego Natural History Museum from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and includes continental breakfast and box lunch.
$40 per person for San Diego Zoo and San Diego Natural History Museum members, $50 for nonmembers. Public parking available in Balboa Park.
