OPENING CEREMONY

DOC TERRY, THE VETERINARIAN

LOCATION: Outside Front Plaza
HOURS: 8:30 a.m. to Noon

Doc Terry, the veterinarian, will be the unofficial host of this celebration of all things green.


ANIMAL AMBASSADORS

LOCATION: Joan Embrey Front Street Stage
HOURS: 10, 10:30, and 11 a.m.; 1:30 and 2 p.m.

STEPHEN FISHWICK

LOCATION: Mercado
HOURS: 11 a.m.to 3 p.m.

The San Diego Zoo hosts artist Stephen Fishwick, who is known for his "For Life" collection, which is focused on conservation. Mr. Fishwick's vision with the collection is to educate people about the plight of endangered animals. He will be demonstrating his art in the Zoo's Mercado area and speaking with guests. Mr. Fishwick's art is also available for purchase in the ZooStore at the Zoo.


CAMP CRITTERS

LOCATION: Wegeforth Bowl
HOURS: 11:30 a.m.

Wegeforth Bowl has been transformed into an imaginary summer camp! Birds, sea lions, four-legged critters, domestic animals, top predators, and humans gather here for song and surprises.

SCAVENGER HUNT

LOCATION: Discovery Outpost Craft Booth
HOURS: 10 a.m to 6 p.m.

It's a family affair for those who want to go on a scavenger hunt for items found all over the Zoo. Receive a free prize when you complete the scavenger hunt and turn it in at the Zoo Store.


ZOO CHARACTER MEET AND GREET

LOCATION: Outside Front Plaza and Poppy's Patio
HOURS: (Front Plaza)8:30 a.m to Noon

FOLLOW THE CULINARY TRAIL

LOCATION: Front Street

Our San Diego Zoo Culinary Trail lets you see the fresh vegetables, fruit, and herbs that we use daily in the exemplary cuisine prepared for you on site at Albert’s Restaurant. Pick up our self-guided tour, and look for such ingredients in some of our delicious vinaigrettes, herb butters, sauces, soups, stews, breads, salads, and desserts.


ORCHID HOUSE

LOCATION: Africa Rocks
HOURS: 11 a.m to 3 p.m.

You can see all kinds of rare, unique, historic, and gorgeous orchids in the San Diego Zoo's Orchid House. Here at the Zoo, we have 948 different types of orchids, and 22 of our orchid species are conservation worthy.
