Let a personal guide introduce you to the incredible animals and plants living at the San Diego Zoo during a Discovery Tour. Sit back in the comfort of our expedition shuttle cart for an enhanced version of our popular guided bus tour. With no more than 10 guests, the Discovery Tour provides you with more opportunities to get great photographs for an experience to remember!

Your experienced guide will share stories about the plants and animals in our living museum, how our conservation research work helps their wild relatives, and how little things we all do can make a big difference. The Discovery Tour route includes areas of the Zoo not seen from the regular bus tour. Best of all, you can step off for better views of your favorite critters and ask your guide as many questions as you like as you watch the antics of our animals.

The Discovery Tour is a 60-minute program that covers 70 percent of the Zoo. At the end of this premium tour, your guide will drop you off at one of our show areas where you’ll enjoy preferred seating. If you have a short amount of time to see all the Zoo has to offer, or don’t like waiting in line for the double-decked bus tour, this is the experience for you!
