Plants: Species

Buckwheat: California Buckwheat Eriogonum fasciculatum

FAMILY: POLYGONACEAE (Buckwheat Family)

As a San Diego County native, California buckwheat Eriogonum fasciculatum can withstand both wind and heat, a good thing when those Santa Ana winds come roaring in. For this reason, it's an effective erosion control plant. It's also an attractive addition to rock gardens. The white or pink flowers grow in long-stemmed clusters from May to October, and are popularly used in dried flower bouquets.
