Plants: Species
Poppy: Matilija Poppy Romneya coulteri
FAMILY: PAPAVERACEAE (Poppy Family)
For obvious reasons, the matilija poppy Romneya coulteri is often called the "fried-egg plant." Its sunny-side-up appearance makes it a striking addition to a garden, especially since its flower stalks can grow up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall. Even without its large, crinkled, and fragrant flowers, its frilled blue-gray leaves make it an attractive plant (but beware, it can be invasive!).
