Plants: Species
Powder Puff Calliandra schultzii
FAMILY: FABACEAE (Bean Family)
Both their common name, powder puff, and their scientific name, Calliandra (which means "beautiful stamens"), are appropriate for the more than 150 tropical plant species that make up the Calliandra genus. The trees and shrubs have flowers of densely packed, silky pink or white stamens that look like powder puffs. This particular variety of calliandra, the schultzii , is unique for its striking blooms that are both white and pink.
