Marjoram Origanum marjorana

FAMILY: LAMIACEAE (Mint Family)

Some people consider marjoram Origanum marjorana to be heavenly scented. The ancient Greeks apparently agreed; legend has it that Aphrodite created marjoram as a symbol of happiness. In her honor, marjoram wreaths were worn at Greek weddings to insure a happy marriage, and marjoram seeds were sown on graves so the deceased person would have a happy afterlife.
