Plants: Species
Woolly Blue Curls Trichostema lanatum
FAMILY: LAMIACEAE (Mint Family)
Woolly blue curls Trichostema lanatum may sound more like a species of sheep than a plant, but this endangered Californian evergreen shrub gets its name from the blue, pink, or white fuzzy "wool" that covers its stalks and the undersides of its leaves in defense against moisture loss. It is a chaparral plant that is resistant to drought and can regenerate after a fire, and its pretty blue flowers are often visited by hummingbirds.
