Coyote Brush, Chaparral Broom Baccharis pilularis

FAMILY: ASTERACEAE (Sunflower Family)

A sunflower, coyote brush Baccharis pilularis is also called chaparral broom, and it may serve as cover for wily coyotes. Flowers are divided by gender, with males and females relegated to separate shrubs. 'Pigeon Point,' the low-profile variety found in the Coastal Sage Garden, is also called prostrate coyote brush and used by landscapers as ground cover.
