Plants: Species
Glorybower, Stickbush, or Honolulu Rose Clerodendrum fragrans
FAMILY: VERBENACEAE (Verbena family)
The mystique of the glorybower is illustrated by its generic name. Clerodendrum derives from the Greek kleros, meaning fate or chance, and dendron, meaning tree: the tree of fate. Its pale pink flowers are similar to hydrangeas and have a wonderful fragrance.
This beautiful plant is considered a major weed on many Polynesian islands, Hawaii, and Florida. It is native to Asia.
