Kangaroo Paw Anigozanthos flavidus
FAMILY: HAEMODORACEAE (Bloodwort Family)
Waving a cheerful red and yellow "hello" as you enter the Safari Park is kangaroo paw Anigozanthos flavidus. This whimsical plant gets its common name from its woolly, tubular flowers, which look like a kangaroo's curved fingers. It was included on the front plaza as a commemorative "thank you" to the firefighters who protected the Park in 1993 when a brush fire came threateningly close.
