Kangaroo Vine Cissus antarctica
FAMILY: VITACEAE (Grape Family)
The kangaroo vine Cissus antarctica is a climbing vine that sends out specialized tendrils to grab hold of and wrap around other objects, "hopping" from one place to another. Aborigines were known to eat the fruits and use the strong, fibrous stems as rope.
According to the Australian Wildflower Birthday Book, the white or purple flowers of this vigorous vine are the signature wildflower for those born in January.
