Plants: Species
Queensland Lacebark Brachychiton discolor
FAMILY: STERCULIACEAE (Cacao or Chocolate Family)
Queensland lacebark trees Brachychiton discolor have bark with intertwined fibers underneath that aborigines use to make nets. Sometimes mistaken for a maple (except when it is in bloom), the Australian tree gets its species name (discolor ) from its two-toned leaves, which are dark green on top and fuzzy pale silver underneath.
