Chinese Flame Tree Koelreuteria bipinnata

FAMILY: SAPINDACEAE (Soapberry Family)

Called the Chinese flame tree because of its colorful fruit husks that are said to resemble clusters of paper lanterns, the Koelreuteria bipinnata can reach heights of 40 to 60 feet (12 to 18 meters). The Chinese flame tree's flowers are precursors to its "paper lantern stage."
